FLOATING & COVID-19

Have your float booked? Here’s how else you can help us:

  • Fill our our waiver PRIOR to arrival - it’s attached to your booking confirmation email.

  • Please CLOSE your pod or tank after your float is over. This will ensure that the sanitation of the pods and tanks during filtration is thorough and will help keep everyone safe!

  • Please remove all of your towels from your room and leave them in the hampers available in the studios as you exit.

  • Please throw away any disposable items (earplugs, Q-tips, opened petroleum jelly, etc) you’ve used in your room for your float.

More on our approach…

As we adjust to life & business in the presence of COVID-19, we feel it is our responsibility now more than ever to provide a calm oasis for our community. We want to assure you that we are taking your well-being AND ours very seriously. Our daily cleaning procedures are already very comprehensive, but given the current situation, we are being even more vigilant with our protocols. We will continue to operate as long as we are able, as we adhere to any guidelines put forth by the CDC and the Washington State Department of Health.

We want to continue offering you a place to reset, but we also want to make sure that it’s as safe as possible for both our guests and our staff. To that end, we encourage kindness, compassion, and levity with yourself and others as we all move through this together!

Why we’re confident in our float tanks

Understandably, one of the most common questions we encounter, COVID or not, is how our float tanks are cleaned and maintained between floaters. Maintaining a clean and safe environment for all of our guests is our highest priority. Thankfully, we’ve got plenty of help.

The 1000lbs of Epsom salt dissolved in each float tank acts as the main sanitation barrier.  Just as no bacteria and microorganisms can survive in the salty environment of the Dead Sea (hence the name), the float tank is not an easy place for nasty stuff to hang out anyway.

Of course, we don’t rely on the salt alone though. Thanks to Superior Float Tanks, we have an incredibly advanced filtration system installed on each of our 14 tanks, which utilizes a 1-micron filter, UV, Ozone (O3), and Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2).  Each tank filters and passes through this entire system at least 3-4 times in between floaters, and is then inspected by our staff.

Airflow in our buildings and rooms

Because floating creates a high humidity environment, we have a robust HVAC system installed at each studio. In general, all of our HVAC systems draw air in from outside which is then heated/cooled and pushed into the common areas. Then all the out-fans from the common areas/bathroom/float rooms/laundry are routed outside the building. This means our air is not recycled (an issue with the pandemic) as can be the case for small buildings and homes. There are also heavy duty filters at every stage; the intake for the building, where the air enters the studio, and where the air is expelled, and these are regularly cleaned and maintained.

Additionally, each tank/pod has silent fans with active ventilation for consistent airflow as well, so no air is recycled within your float environment.

SHOULD I WORRY ABOUT CONTRACTING ANY VIRUSES FROM THE FLOAT WATER?

The short answer is NO. As illustrated above, the float tanks/pods themselves are incredibly safe, and likely one of the cleanest environments you'll ever find. Aside from the 1000lbs of Epsom salt dissolved in each tank, our filtration systems utilize an injection of Ozone & medical-grade H2O2, as well as UV to sanitize and disinfect the water and interior walls between every floater. To date, there are no reported cases of contracting COVID-19 from a float tank experience anywhere in the country.

WHAT ABOUT YOUR FACILITY? ARE MASKS REQUIRED?

All touch-point surfaces and equipment are being effectively disinfected between every floater (including bathroom counters, door and shower handles, etc, every time). Our float centers were built with robust HVAC systems due to the humidity of the float rooms, so air flow is better than many other indoor environments.

MASK UPDATE: Mask-wearing is now optional in our studios for guests and staff in accordance with WA state guidelines. We encourage you to continue wearing a mask if it makes you more comfortable in our space.
